Isabelle Durand

Isabelle Durand is a self-taught artist and a retired French Immersion teacher. When she retired, part of her creative journey involved the discovery of a new art medium- Alcohol Ink. She stumbled on it “by accident” after dabbling in watercolour and acrylic paint, and was intrigued by this new medium which has a “mind” of its own and lets one “play with the universe”. Now she likes to place her art in outdoor spaces, as she loves the sea, sunsets, waves, flowers, trees, and anything nature has to offer.

Isabelle has lived in many beautiful places: France, Morocco, Canada (Alberta and Saskatchewan), Costa Rica and Argentina, and she draws from the beauty of these places to find inspiration. When she moved to Comox in 2012, Vancouver Island became another source of inspiration.

She is happy to be an active member of the Pearl Ellis Gallery community and is looking forward to helping the Gallery thrive.
