The Marvels Of Masa Paper, With Juanita C. Olson
10:00am — 3:00pm
Level: All levels
Description: In this workshop you will learn how to prepare and mount the paper, how to use your watercolours on this special paper to best effect, and how to treat the finished product for lasting display. Juanita loves to teach this workshop because participants are always so “gobsmacked” by what they are seeing happen on their paper, and are happy to have a personal example of this technique to take home.
Instructor: Juanita received a watercolour starter set one Christmas and thus began a pursuit that has provided a very pleasing leisure time activity, and a world of opportunity for learning. More formal art education began in watercolour with Lee Baughman in Vancouver, Washington, then Greg Swainson in the Edmonton area. More recently, Juanita has studied acrylics with Brian Simons in Victoria, BC, in oils with Carol Marine in Nanaimo, BC., and in acrylics with Brian Buckrell in Comox.
Having retired and settled in the Comox Valley, Juanita is able to devote considerable time to painting. She enjoys venturing into other techniques, inspired by the company of the many talented artists in the vicinity – particularly during weekly sessions with the Brushworks group.
Materials to be provided by the participants: Masa paper, watercolour pigments, brushes, water containers, paper towels, plastic table cloth. Participants will be sent a full materials list after registration.
