Photography at the Pearl Ellis Gallery

Faces and Places - A Celebration of Tonality runs July 11-29 at the Pearl Ellis Gallery in Comox. It is the second exhibit of prints from Focal Arts. Focal Arts is a collaborative group of eleven Canadian photographers working together to achieve a high standard of proficiency in the art and craft of photography and printmaking. Members meet monthly to review post processing techniques, share ideas and review recent prints.

“All of our members have +50 years of photographic experience navigating changes from traditional film and darkroom to digital processes” states member Ernst Vegt. “What hasn’t changed is the passion that each member brings to their craft.”

Each photographer created three black and white images and the exhibit has examples of street photography, landscapes and intentional camera movement. British Columbia, Washington State, Newfoundland, Africa and New York City are some of the settings.

A reception will be held on Thursday, July 13, 6:30-8:00 pm. The photographers will be available to discuss their work and the prints that are on display. Please feel free to join them and view this collection of photographic prints. Light refreshments will be served.
