Andy Reddekop

I’ve always enjoyed the fine arts in different ways. As a young boy I would draw and paint subjects like birds and hockey players. I won my first pair of skates as the prize for an art contest for children in the Winnipeg Free Press. I took art courses in High School and during my teacher training. However, during my career in education, I did very little art. When I retired in 2010, I resumed sketching - mostly portraits. When my wife gave me a Christmas present of Prismacolor pencils, I was hooked. I particularly enjoy portrait work or scenes involving people, like different types of dance. If I can integrate music in some way, all the better. Hence the choice of many of my subjects.
