Kate Kokotailo

Kate Kokotailo moved to the Comox Valley in 2012 after working for 30 years as Graphic Designer for the Regina Public Library system. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Regina 1973-74 with Ted Godwin, Jack Cowin, Jack Sures, Joe Fafard and John Nugent, among others. Since that time, she has participated in numerous classes and workshops, including with well-known American watercolour painters Birgit O'Connor, Leslie Redhead and Soon Y. Warren.

Kate has shown her work in public and corporate art galleries in Regina and the Comox Valley and her paintings have been purchased by the Dunlop Art Gallery, the City of Regina and by private collectors in Regina and the Comox Valley.

For many years, Kate worked with coloured pencils, achieving the effects of painting with the building of multiple layers of colour on large sheets of textured paper. After moving to the Comox Valley, she began to paint primarily with watercolour and enjoys the intensity of tone and colour it provides. Kate paints with the Brushworks group in Comox and is a member of ArtSphere Comox Valley and the Pearl Ellis Gallery.
