The Pearl Ellis Gallery is pleased to present a retrospective exhibition and sale of Julian Barker’s work from June 26-July 14.
As a young man, Barker attended the Banff School of Fine Arts and took art courses at the University of British Columbia. There, he developed a greater appreciation of the skills involved in drawing and painting. Over the years, he has produced many pencil drawings and paintings of Canadian wildlife, attempting to convey their many moods.…

A solo exhibition by local artist Jerry Simice will be presented from January 30 to February 17. Simice has lived and worked in the Comox Valley since 1979. He has been painting for the past 20 years, experimenting with technique and materials to produce vibrant works on paper, canvas and canvas board with acrylic, oil pastels and inks. Since retiring in 2017 from a long and fulfilling career in medicine, Simice has enjoyed long hours in his home studio.…

Campbell River artist Deborah Wachter's work is more about the act of painting rather than the image. Her work is created by juxtaposition and using elements of composition and design to bring a piece to completion, sometimes using subtraction of elements to bring focus. Deborah earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Victoria with painting as her major area of study. After university Deborah sat as a board member of the Kelowna Art Centre Society assisting in the development of the Rotary Centre for The Arts in Kelowna BC. As part of the building committee she worked with city planners to establish a venue for artists to create and showcase their work.…

The Pearl Ellis Gallery will kick off its 39th summer season with its 12th Members People's Choice Awards Show and Sale. The show runs from June 27 to July 22.
After looking at the beautiful art that will be on display for sale the public and membership is welcome to vote on their favorite piece The Members show will showcase a variety of painting, fabric art and sculpture representing many fine artists in the Comox Valley. The winner will receive gift certificates from Whyte's framing and Benjamin Moore Paints.. As well the second and third place winners will receive gift certificates from Benjamin Moore Paints. The Pearl Ellis Gallery in Comox will be displaying a new show on June 6th entitled "Landscapes and Other Things - 2". The show not only has oil and acrylic paintings of landscapes, but also includes elements from the fishing aspect of life on the West Coast. It will showcase works by Lorna Welch, who has resided in Zeballos on the West Coast of the Island with her husband Larry for over 20 years, and David Netterville, who retired with his partner Louise to the Comox Valley from Europe about 10 years ago.…
