FROM THE BOARD

September has announced itself with cooler weather this year, and you can certainly feel it. Soon the leaves will be gorgeous shades of yellows, oranges and reds, which in turn may inspire new work from all of us. Our volunteers and Board members have been very busy over the past month, preparing for the fall and the upcoming year.

We are excited to advise that the programming sub-committee that was mentioned in the August newsletter has been meeting regularly to create new guidelines for the Pearl Ellis Gallery show submission and selection process . When the sub-committee first met, it described the rationale behind the work they were undertaking as follows. To continue to provide multiple opportunities for our members to show work. These opportunities will include concept shows, juried open calls, and of course, our wonderful group member shows. 

• To reach a wider audience of artists and patrons. 
• To take a professional approach to accepting work to be shown. This will include creating a five member juried panel for some shows.
• This exciting new format for show structure and work selection is just being finalized and more information will be provided within the next month including the schedule for the 2024 shows giving ample opportunity to prepare for submitting work.  Stay tuned!
  
  

News from the Board includes the acceptance of the resignation of Miriam Myers effective October 10,  2023. We wish to thank her for the time and effort she has provided to the Pearl Ellis Gallery over the past year. This will create two open Board positions. The Board is hoping to attract and evolve into a  diverse group of people. If this is something that speaks to you please drop us a note. 

Our volunteer coordinator positions are being filled by highly capable and energetic individuals. We are looking for a Marketing Coordinator position  and a Reception Coordinator. There is always a need for help to share the load with all the Coordinator positions. We can’t forget about the Hosts at the front desk, the face of the gallery – there are always opportunities for volunteers in this area. There is an upcoming member survey where you will have the opportunity to provide ideas and feedback.

SHOWS AT THE PEG

Currently, the Members Fall Show is on display from August 29 to September 23, 2023 with a variety of fabulous pieces. The next show The Wild Blue Wonder, a display of works by Lynda Glover, will be in the Gallery from September 26 to October 21, 2023. Congratulations to all those who have had their work on display at the Gallery.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS

We are currently putting together a workshop on Poetry and Art taking place  October 14th. Registration information will be forthcoming.
