December 2023 Newsletter
2023-12-17
December seems to be speeding along and soon the days will start getting longer. Families are cozied up by the fire, enjoying hot cocoa and seasonal lights.
At PEG, the final Members show of 2023 is underway, and the gallery is looking festive. Don’t forget, if you need any last minute gifts, we have a wonderful selection of member-produced cards available, along with affordable, original art. Our hours will be extended for the week of Dec 19 to 23; we'll be open from 10am to 4pm.
December started with our first jury convening, to select works for the first two concept shows of 2024, and for the first solo/group slot. There has been some curiosity from our members, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to explain the jurying process. Please click this link to find out more.
We will be starting off the New Year on January 9th with our first juried concept show, “Our Earth”. We had a tremendous response to the call out and will be featuring the work of twenty-three different artists.
Also in the new year, our Members Shows will largely be unchanged, but to make it easier for you, we have extended the submission window. As in the past, these member shows will not be juried. You will be able to submit your work through the website, starting six weeks before the opening date of each Members Show. For example, on December 26th we will start accepting your submissions for our winter show, which opens on February 6th. Here is a link to the submission page. The submission link will be open for three weeks and we will select as many works as possible to display in the gallery. All remaining submissions will be guaranteed a spot in the next Members Show.
This month we also launched our first annual Member Survey, and we are getting lots of great responses. We will keep the survey open until December 23rd, so if you have not already done so, please take the time to fill it out. It only takes about 10 minutes, and we really want to hear from as many of you as possible. We are looking forward to sharing the results with you in January. Here is a link to the survey.
Finally, we are excited to announce our January to April 2024 workshops and demonstrations. A workshop also makes a great gift! The link for details and registration is here.
Phew! I know that was a lot of information to process; thank you for sticking it out to the end, and for your patience and support while the board has been making these changes to procedures. Many of you have already renewed your membership for 2024 and that is a vote of confidence in the future of our little gallery. We hope you have a restful and rejuvenating holiday season and look forward to seeing you in January.
