November 2024 Newsletter

2024-11-19

Phew! What a busy month it has been, and there’s still so much more to do before it wraps up!

We’re halfway through our first-ever Giftables pop-up show, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the turnout and response. Sales are through the roof, and visitors are spreading the word that this is an affordable and classy event. The best part? Participants only pay a minimal fee and receive 80% of their sales. It’s so rewarding to see our members enjoying the fruits of their hard work and creativity—that’s what we’re all about!

On that note, after a thoughtful process of reflecting on our legacy and future goals, we’ve finalized our official Vision and Mission statements:

Vision Statement: To be a dynamic and inclusive hub that inspires art lovers and nurtures creatives.

Mission Statement: We affirm the value of making art and foster community growth by offering engaging exhibitions and creative learning opportunities.

These statements help us clearly communicate our purpose to members and the broader community, while reminding us that our primary focus is to support and connect with all of you.

Our final exhibition of 2024, the Joy Members’ Show, will be mounted this weekend and will run until December 21. After that, we’ll finally enjoy a much-needed break!

In the meantime, our jury is hard at work selecting the participants for 2025’s four open spots and the first concept show of the year. Results will be announced in early December, so if you’ve submitted, keep an eye out for the news.

Time to Renew Your Membership for 2025!
Memberships are valid for the calendar year, so now is the perfect time to renew for the new year. You can drop by the gallery or renew online through our website: https://pearlellisgallery.com/membership/.

Reminder: Donations for Seniors
We’re thrilled with the generosity of our members and the number of artwork donations we’ve already received for the Home Instead "Be a Santa for a Senior" program—thank you! If you’d still like to participate, there’s time—donations will be accepted until December 1st.

Artwork can include paintings, framed photographs, or other creations, provided they are in good condition. Donations can be dropped off at the gallery during normal hours. Please ask the host to place them in our storeroom and ensure the items are labelled “Home Instead” or “Be a Santa for a Senior.”

To learn more about the program, visit the Home Instead Santa for a Senior website [www.homeinstead.ca]. Let’s continue to brighten the holidays for seniors in our community!

Call for Volunteers
Finally, I want to thank every member who contributed their time this year—whether by hosting, serving on committees, or simply helping our society thrive. We couldn’t do it without you!

That said, we’re looking for volunteers to fill two key roles:

A team leader for our poster distribution volunteers (to help spread the word about our shows).

A show coordinator to work alongside the board, taking care of the logistics of mounting exhibitions and communicating with participants.

If you’re interested or have questions about either role, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at teresa@pearlellisgallery.ca.

Thank you for your enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication this year. Let’s close out 2024 on a high note and step into the new year with even more inspiration and community spirit!

Warm regards,
Teresa Kachanoski
Pearl Ellis Gallery President
