December 2024 Newsletter

As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect on an exciting and productive year at the Pearl Ellis Gallery. With shows changing every four weeks, there’s never a dull moment! Our continuing success is made possible by the tireless efforts of our dedicated board and volunteers. They truly are the backbone of our gallery. That said, we are always looking for new faces to join our team and bring fresh energy to our operations.

Currently, we have a vacancy on the board for the Show Coordination position. If you have basic computer skills and some experience with displaying artwork, this could be a great opportunity to get involved. We’re also in need of volunteers to help distribute posters around the community and to host in the gallery. If you’d like to lend a hand, we’d love to hear from you. Behind the scenes, this year’s jury process was both challenging and rewarding. With so many high-quality submissions, it wasn’t easy to make our selections. However, jurors Pelle Campbell, Wendy Morosoff-Smith, and I are confident that the chosen exhibitions will inspire and impress viewers. You can learn more about the selections here.

We’re thrilled to report that our first-ever Giftables Pop-Up event was a resounding success! A big thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to its success, with a special shout-out to our VP, Susan Sarada, for her flawless coordination and management of this complex event. 

Our current members’ show, Joy, truly lives up to its name, filling the gallery with a refreshing sense of happiness. As the final show of the year, it wraps up on Saturday, so be sure to visit if you haven’t had the chance yet!

We also extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who generously donated to the “Home Again” Santa for a Senior campaign. Together, you provided 72 individual gifts of artwork, spreading joy to many seniors in our community this season.

As we look ahead to the New Year, we’d like to remind you to renew your membership online or in person at the gallery. Please note that the gallery will be closed for the holidays from December 22nd to January 6th.

During the holiday break, we encourage you to start planning your submissions for our next members’ show. The submission form will be available on our website starting January 7th.

Lastly, we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few moments to complete our annual survey. Your feedback helps us understand our membership better and improve our offerings. The survey is open until January 31st, and we’ll share a summary of the results in February. You can access it here.
