Showcase 2016
Comox Valley Photography Society
Pearl Ellis Gallery Oct 18, 2016 – Nov 06, 2016
The Comox Valley Photographic Society (CVPS) is pleased to present the ninth annual ShowCase, running from Oct. 18th through Nov. 7th at the Pearl Ellis Gallery of Fine Arts in Comox.
On display will be a variety of images ranging from landscapes, wildlife, portraits, seascapes to abstracts, representing a variety of photographic styles. “CVPS members find their subjects on local field trips as well as their travels in and out of Canada,” said Norm Prince, Showcase coordinator. “Expect to see images from the Comox Valley to Newfoundlanda and from as far as Iceland, Africa and South America.”
The CVPS began as a handful of camera enthusiast over 40 years ago and has grown to more than 130 members. Advances in digital photography, guest speakers, hands-on workshops, and field trip opportunities have all contributed to the increase in membership. The CVPS education component encourages members to reach beyond their comfort zone to produce stunning images.
A reception for the show will be held Thursday, Oct. 20 from 7-9 pm at the Gallery. Everyone is welcome to attend to meet the photographers, enjoy some light refreshments and be entranced by a stunning display of local talent.
Learn how the images were created, what advice the photographers may have, and how their photographic skills have evolved. Throughout the show, artists will be available at the Gallery to answer questions.
