Local Photographers set to share stories

Comox Valley Photographic Society’s Showcase opens at the Pearl Ellis Art Gallery on March 10, with 40 prints by 25 CVPS members.

“This year’s exhibit has been crafted to tell a story through the print, that’s the reason for printing an image… to tell a story to the viewer,” says CVPS Showcase coordinator Norm Prince. This year’s exhibit will showcase both the technical and creative skills of the photographers, and images range from landscapes/wildlife to cityscapes and multiple exposed abstracts, printed in both colour and black and white.

“Anyone who shoots with a phone should come and see what local photographers are doing. When you view prints made by others, you can make your own prints better. I would encourage you to check out the reception and talk to the photographers,” says CVPS member Wink Richardson.

“It’s important to share your work, local artists are important to the community and I enjoy seeing prints on exhibit… we don’t often have the opportunity to see each others prints” says Mason Laver. "And at a local gallery in Comox…what could be easier?"

An opening reception will be held Friday, March 13 from 7:00-8:30 pm. Many of the photographers will be in attendance, and everyone is welcome. Free admission.
